Review procedure
- Manuscripts sent to the editors will be checked for their suitability with the general profile of Finnisch-Ugrische Mitteilungen as well as their adherence to the submission guidelines.
- Manuscripts meeting these criteria will be send to two external reviewers. The editors aim to establish contrasting reviews by getting one expert in general linguistics and one expert from within the Uralic field.
- The editors guarantee that there is no conflict of interest and that the author and the reviewer are not affiliated to the same institution. Both remain anonymous; the communication is handled by the editors.
- Authors are given access to their reviews.
- A positive review without further remarks leads to publication; the author will be informed about that.
- If the manuscript is generally assessed positively but with comments, it is send back to the author for revision.
- In the case of refusal, the author is informed about the reasons.
- Authors have the right to comment on remarks and refusals.
- Manuscripts of the category “Berichte, Mitteilungen, Nachrichten” and “Rezensionen” will not be reviewed by external reviewers but the editors themselves.
