History
The Finnisch-Ugrischen Mitteilungen was founded by István Futaky in 1977, aiming at closing a gap in the Finnougric Studies, right from the start Helmut Buske Verlag was the publisher: "In working together with a young and dynamic publisher it is ensured that the magazine will find its way to the readers within as well as beyond the fields of Finnougric Studies in a swift and smooth manner."(free translation of Futaky, István 1977: Eine neue Zeitschift - warum?, Finnisch-Ugrische Mitteilungen 1, 2).
