Sub-project Dolgan
Dolgan belongs to the North Siberian group of north-eastern Turkic languages and is spoken by about 1000 people on the Taimyr Peninsula and in neighbouring areas in the far north of Siberia in Russia.
It is in a pronounced situation of language contact on the one hand with Russian as the dominant matrix language and on the other hand with Evenki, Nganasan, Enets and Nenets as further minority languages.
In the INEL project, different materials of Dolgan were collected and processed. These are pre-published folkloric texts as well as audio recordings from additional sources. A large part of the latter was made available from the holdings of the House of the Cultures of the Peoples of the Taimyr Peninsula (TDNT) in Dudinka. These materials are radio recordings (interviews and narrative and folkloric monologues). Other content comes from the collection of Eugénie Stapert (CAU Kiel) or was collected during a fieldwork trip in 2017. All the materials mentioned here were transcribed and finally glossed and linguistically annotated as part of the Dolgan sub-project.
The INEL Dolgan Corpus 2.0 is available for download under Open Access conditions and via web-based search.
