Linguistic Diversity Management in Urban Areas (LiMA)
State Excellence Cluster
Researcher: Prof. Dr. Peter Siemund
The cluster builds on the nationwide unique research expertise on multilingualism of the University of Hamburg . It seeks answers to the question of whether and how migration-related multilingualism in metropolitan areas can be transformed into an individual and social resource that has a positive impact on cultural, social and economic development. The question is to be dealt with in interdisciplinary research teams in an international comparative perspective. Hamburg serves as a starting point and model case for comparable developments worldwide. The cluster's goals include international networking and the interdisciplinary education of young scientists in an international graduate school with the University of Calgary.
