Clara Mine Derince is a researcher and educator specializing in English language education, with a particular focus on critical plurilingual pedagogy. She joins the Department of English Linguistics as adjunct faculty for the winter semester 2026.
She previously taught seminars in the English Language Education Department at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, where she collaborated on curricular projects on plurilingualism with pre- and in-service teachers and conducted research on multilingualism in partnership with community organizations across Berlin. She also served as a project coordinator for the European Network for Junior Researchers in the Field of Plurilingualism and Education (ENROPE), a multinational initiative co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. Prior to her work in Berlin, she spent more than twenty years at Marmara University School of Foreign Languages in Istanbul, where she held positions as instructor, curriculum developer, and academic coordinator.
She holds a PhD in English Language Education from Boğaziçi University, Istanbul. Her research interests include critical literacy, plurilingualism, language planning, World Englishes, and critical approaches to language teaching materials. She has presented her work at international conferences, published in peer-reviewed educational journals, and contributed to research projects addressing plurilingualism, social cohesion, ELF (English as a Lingua Franca) awareness, and critical pedagogy.
