The student project "the end", a magazine focusing on the apocalypse, will be released this Friday at Fabrik der Künste in Hamburg. Additionally, there will be an art exhibition and various talks with scholars, filmmakers and artists.
On January 20th 2017, students of the Master's programme “British and American Cultures: Texts and Media“ will publish a magazine called "the end", which will deal with various apocalyptic scenarios in visual arts as well as in music for example.
Apocalyptic visions have been part of people's anxieties for thousands of years, but over time our ideas of what shape an apocalypse might take have constantly changed. Concepts of the end of the world are prevalent in popular culture and are also used as instruments of power in a religious context or the political sphere.
The magazine will be presented at the “Fabrik der Künste“ - surrounded by several works of art, such as (post)-apocalyptic photographs, graphic illustrations and video installations. The programme includes various talks and discussions with scholars, filmmakers and artists.
