The Roland Faelske-Preis: Award ceremony in November 2020

This year marks the sixth round of the Roland Faelske-Preis for graphic literature and animated film. The prize is awarded bi-annually and was donated by the Roland Faelske-Stiftung. It is awarded in two categories: best Master's, Diploma or Bachelor thesis and best doctoral thesis in the above areas of scholarship. This year's winners are:
Best M.A. thesis:

Best doctoral thesis (this year's prize is a shared by two winners):
Bettina Julia Egger, PhD, M.A., Comic und Erinnerung. Oral History im Werk von Emmanuel Guibert. Paris, Salzburg, 2018.
Johannes C.P. Schmid, M.A., Frames and Framing in Documentary Comics. Univ. Hamburg, 2019.
Due to Corona, the prize-giving ceremony took place digitally on November 6, 2020. Participants were greeted by the chair of the Arbeitsstelle für Graphische Literatur (ArGL), Prof. Dr. Astrid Böger. Welcoming speeches were held by Vicepresident Prof. Dr. Jan Louis (Univ. Hamburg), the trustee of the Roland Faelske-Stiftung, Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Carola Wiese, and the legal advisor of the Roland Faelske-Stiftung, Frank Laubert. Words of praise for the winning theses were offered by Jury member Dr. Lukas R. A. Wilde. A festive lecture was given by the director of the Erika-Fuchs-Haus, Museum für Comic und Sprachkunst, Dr. Alexandra Hentschel, on the topic "Entenhausen liegt im Fichtelgebirge".
