Business English
These courses are for students in English and American studies who are working toward a teacher training degree to teach in vocational schools (commerce and business teachers) and students in the BA/MA degree component of teacher training for vocational schools (Lehramt an beruflichen Schulen, LAB). Students studying other subjects and IAA students may take these courses if extra spaces are available. The number of participants is limited to 20 per course.
Note for students taking electives: Please note that in these courses specialized vocabulary will be used to discuss business-related issues. The participantsʼ English skills must therefore be at the level required for advanced English courses in secondary schools. In addition, basic knowledge of business administration is required for the advanced courses offered. Please note that the courses build on each other and should therefore be taken one after another and not at the same time.
The bachelorʼs degree regulations stipulate the number of permissible absences. After the third absence, a student may not take the written examination or successfully complete the course. Regular attendance is mandatory for students who want to take the written examination. Transfer of credit for coursework completed abroad must be taken care of during the first week of classes at the latest.
Commerce and business teachers and vocational school teachers (Diplom degree program) as well as those minoring in Business English are tested in Business English as part of their exams. Ms. Deutschendorf can provide you with more information.
Within the elective area of our bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, students may select all courses coded AA-W, AA-WB, SLM-WB.
The bachelorʼs degree program is structured as follows:

In the elective area for bachelorʼs and masterʼs degrees, students may take all courses listed with the code [AA-W].
